Minimum Requirement for Admission Test 2012-13 :
Admission requirements for the B. Sc. Ag. (Hons.), B.Sc. Agribusiness Management (Hons.) and B. Sc. Vet. Sc & A. H. (Hons.) Courses
Students fulfilling the following requirements are eligible to apply-
a) S.S.C./ equivalent passed students from Science Group of the year 2008 or 2009.
b) H.S.C./ equivalent passed students from Science Group of the year 2010 or 2011 having the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, with a minimum GPA 3.00 in each of these subjects.
c) Securing a minimum GPA 3.00 in each of S.S.C. and H.S.C. examinations with a combined GPA 7.50.
d) GPA 3 is minimum requirement in both S.S.C. and H.S.C. examination in English
Admission :
a) Admission to the undergraduate program will be carried out as per the Ordinance of students’ admission in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. The Registrar’s office will deal with registration as well.
Cancellation of Admission :
If a student fails to maintain on an average 70% of the class attendance of the courses before filling up of the form of the semester final examination of Level-1, Semester-I, his/her admission shall automatically stand cancelled.
Admission to Masters and Ph. D Course :
A separate brochure is available at the office of the Dean (post Graduate Studies) and Deputy Registrar (Academic). The students interested to get admission into M.S or Ph. D course may obtain the same on payment of necessary charges.
Admission of Foreign Students :
Foreign students interested for admission in any course of this University must apply well in advance through their respective mission in Bangladesh to the Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka-1000 enclosing evidence of examinations passed and transcripts of academic accomplishments. After submission of application within the stipulated date, the admission committee of the university will review the candidate’s eligibility for admission.

The courses offered should lead to awarding the degree of -
a) Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Honours), abbreviated as B. Sc. Ag. (Hons.).
b) Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management (Honours) abbreviated as B. Sc. Agribusiness
Management (Hons.).
c) Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine & Animal Husbandry (Honours) abbreviated as B. Sc. Vet. Sc. & A. H (Hons.)
Duration of Degree Program :
Each of the degree is a four years program divided into 8 academic semesters.
Academic Semester and Duration :
There are two semesters (Semester-I and Semester-II) in an academic year. The semester-I will start in January and semester-II in July of each academic year.
The duration of each semester will be of 22 weeks as mentioned bellow:
Classes 16 weeks
Recess before Semester Final Examination 02 weeks
Semester Final Examination [Theory and Practical (approx.)] 02 weeks
Result preparation and publication 02 weeks
Total 22 weeks
For the candidates who would fail in maximum two courses, there will be make-up examinations at the end of each semester final examination. The student(s) obtained ‘F’ grade in one or two courses (maximum) in a semester will be allowed to enroll in the next semester if his/her GPA is 2.5 or above. However, he/she will have a second chance to sit for the first make-up examination (final) of failed course(s) paying a required amount of fees. If failed again in the first make-up examination, he/she will be allowed to sit for the 2nd make-up examination paying the required fees. If a student fails in his/her 1st and 2nd make-up examinations he/she will remain in his/her original semester.
Medium of Instruction :
The medium of instruction in this University is English.
Halls of Residence :
The Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University has three halls for male students and two for female students. Students admitted to the University have either to reside in or be attached to a hall of residence. A Provost assisted by Assistant Provosts looks after the administration of a hall. The names of the halls are:

Type of Courses :
The courses included in the undergraduate curricula are divided into the following groups.
a) Core/Compulsory Courses: In each semester specific number of courses will be offered as core courses which are considered as compulsory courses.
b) Elective Courses: There will be a number of courses which will be offered as elective courses. Students have to complete four elective courses out of a number of elective courses according to their choice. The chosen elective courses will be treated as compulsory courses.
Academic credit :
When a student enrolls at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, shall earn academic credits. In case of theoretical courses, one lecture per week per semester (16 weeks) will be equivalent to one credit i.e., for a 3-credit course; there will be three lectures per week per semester. In case of practical, one practical class of three hours per week per semester will be equivalent to two credits.
Limits on the Credit Hours to be taken :
A student must get enrolled in the core courses designed in each semester. A student will not be allowed to enroll more than one elective course in a single semester. The credit earned in the elective courses will be added in GPA calculation.
